Translating knowledge of brain tumor biology into personalized patient care

The Translational Brain Tumor Lab is led by Dr. Adam M Sonabend, a neurosurgeon at Columbia University. This lab is located at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is part of the Neurooncology Program at Columbia University. The lab is dedicated to investigating how to use current knowledge on mechanisms of brain cancer development, progression and response to therapies, to improve patient care. Our work spans from experiments in test-tubes and mice to clinical trials of novel treatments for patients with brain tumors. To do this, we employ human brain tumor specimens collected in the operating room, transgenic mouse brain tumor models, and brain tumor cancer cell lines.
